eGFR values should be interpreted alongside clinical findings and repeat testing. The following guidance is informational and does not replace clinical judgement.
G1–G2 (Mild or normal)
- Monitor kidney function periodically if risk factors are present.
- Optimise blood pressure, glucose control, and hydration.
- Review medications that may affect renal function.
G3a–G3b (Moderate reduction)
- Confirm chronicity with repeat testing over at least 3 months.
- Assess cardiovascular risk and adjust medications if needed.
- Consider referral or shared care depending on progression.
G4–G5 (Severe reduction)
- Refer to nephrology for further assessment and management.
- Review dosing of renally excreted medications.
- Discuss renal replacement planning where appropriate.
